Guided Visits to
the 1633 Mangano
and the printing house.
Antica Stamperia Marchi is more than a workshop and a boutique. It’s a place brimming with history, with smells and materials; a place where you’ll rediscover ancient arts, tools and methods. It’s also a museum offering guided visits for groups and individuals on request.
Guided visits
and workshops
Stamperia Marchi has always been a place of pilgrimage for lovers of history and engineering, and art scholars, due to its cultural and folkloric importance and authentic craftsmanship. We offer the possibility of visits to the Mangano and to the printing house; we can also organise genuine practical workshops for schools, in which the pupils themselves have the opportunity to make prints.
What to see
Marvel at our antique Mangano machine dating back to 1633, the only one of its kind in the world, and see it working: yes, because although it’s 390 years old, it’s still used to process our fabrics and make them even more beautiful. You can also visit our print shop where we continue the art of hand-printing on fabric, handed down through the generations. For our printing we use hand-carved printing plates, many of which are 17th century originals, and the same ancient techniques.
VISITS IN VARIOUS LANGUAGES AND UNIQUE SOUVENIRS
At the Stamperia we can offer visits in English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Czech, Polish and Dutch. Following the visit, you can purchase unique and totally hand-crafted items at our shop adjoining the Stamperia.

Printing workshops for schools
For schools we offer the possibility of organising workshops in which the pupils themselves will have the opportunity to print on a fabric placemat which we will send to the school once finished, to be kept as a souvenir of the visit.
Like real apprentices, the pupils will be immersed in the special world of our print shop, hear the creaking of the wooden wheel, touch the weave of the fabric, watch as colour is applied and feel the unparalleled sensation of creating something unique with their own hands. A dip into the artisan history of our region, handed down to new generations.
